T.A.R.D.I.S. Hat, My First Tutorial

Hello fellow Whovians!
I made this hat for the Fiftieth anniversary episode that happened a few weeks ago.

It took me two tries to get this hat right. It was my first time making a pattern and I really enjoyed it. So here goes:

I used:
- a 5 mm hook
- worsted weight yarn in blue, black, and white
-yarn needle

Stitches used:
ch: chain
hdc: half double crochet
hdc2tog: half double crochet two together, or decrease
inc.: 2 hdc in one stitch
sl: slip stitch

The Pattern:
I started at the brim and worked to the top.
So, to start Chain 57 sts. Join first and last sts to make a large loop. Make sure you don't twist the chain.
Round 1+2: ch 2, hdc around, sl in ch2
Round 3: ch 2, *hdc 18, inc. repeat from * around, sl in ch2 (60 sts)
Round 4+5: (these are the window rows) ch2, hdc as follows: *4 blue, 3 white, 1 blue, 3 white, 1 blue, 3 white, 4 blue, 3 white, 1 blue, 3 white, 1 blue, 3 white, repeat from * around, sl in ch2 You will do the pattern twice each time around. It takes a while because you have to change colours so much, but it is worth it!) (60 sts)
Round 6: ch2, hdc around in blue, sl in ch2 (60sts)
Round 7+ 8: (these are the window rows) ch2, hdc as follows: *4 blue, 3 white, 1 blue, 3 white, 1 blue, 3 white, 4 blue, 3 white, 1 blue, 3 white, 1 blue, 3 white, repeat from * around, sl in ch2 (60 sts)
Round 9+ 10: ch2, hdc around in blue, sl in ch2
Round 11+12: ch2, hdc around in black, sl in ch2 (this is where you will write 'Police Box')
Round 13+14: ch2, hdc around in blue, sl in ch2
Decrease rows:
Round 15: ch2, *hdc 8, hdc2tog, repeat from star around, sl into ch2
Round 16: ch2, *hdc 7, hdc2tog, repeat from star around, sl into ch2
Round 17: ch2, *hdc 6, hdc2tog, repeat from star around, sl into ch2
Round 18: ch2, *hdc 5, hdc2tog, repeat from star around, sl into ch2
Round 19: ch2, *hdc 4, hdc2tog, repeat from star around, sl into ch2
Round 20: ch2, *hdc 3, hdc2tog, repeat from star around, sl into ch2
Round 21: ch2, *hdc 2, hdc2tog, repeat from star around, sl into ch2
Round 22-24: hdc2tog around
Fasten off, sew together and weave in ends.
Choose which side is the front and embroider 'Police Box' on the black strip.
For the pompom:
Hold your fingers apart and wrap yarn around all four fingers, loosely.

When it is thick enough, tie a piece of string tightly around the middle, right between your middle and ring fingers.

Then cut down the sides by your pointer finger and your pinky.

Attach to the top of your hat. This is the light.
And now you have your own TARDIS hat! Don't forget to make whooshing sounds when you are wearing it. :) If you have any questions about this pattern, feel free to comment. I would be happy to help you! Happy Holidays, enjoy the Christmas Special!
